COACH DAVE KNEHR

Coach Dave Knehr, a lifelong student and teacher of the game whose passion for baseball began right here on Long Island.

Growing up in Baldwin, New York, Coach Dave spent his youth on local little league fields and neighborhood sandlots long before travel baseball existed- playing simply for the love of the game. The passion and natural skill carried him to Baldwin High School, where he played center field under a coach who recognized his potential and helped pave the way for him to compete at the Division I level. Following his senior year, Coach Dave's hard work and talent earned him a draft selection, leading to two seasons in the New York- Penn League, a Class A Minor League division of Major League Baseball.

After his playing career, Coach Dave turned his attention to developing the next generation of ballplayers. His coaching resume includes successful tenures with the North Shore Vikings (2005-2012), LI Whalers (2015-2018), and B1 Seminoles (2018-2025) programs that have competed in Perfect Game tournaments across the Tri-State area, as well as national events in Fort Myers, Florida, and Nashville, Tennessee, and regional showcases such as Cal Ripken and Cooperstown.

In addition to team coaching, Coach Dave has worked extensively with young athletes in one-on-one player development, helping them reach their personal goals both on and off the field. A dedicated multi-sport coach, he has also led youth soccer and roller hockey teams, sharing his leadership and mentorship across disciplines.

Coach Dave's philosophy centers on the fundamental importance of practice- developing players through discipline, repetition, and age- appropriate drills that foster confidence and success. His decades of experience at every level of the game have shaped a coaching style built on patience, precision, and a genuine love for helping athletes grow.

With a career rooted in passion, teaching, and lifelong dedication to baseball, Coach Dave is an essential part of the Legacy 9 Baseball family- continuining to build the foundation where "every rep builds a legacy."
