Coach JJ Gatti

College Career- University of Dayton & Old Dominion University

Coach JJ began his collegiate career at the University of Dayton in 2023, where he gained valuable Division I experience as a freshman. He made 14 appearances on the mound, including two starts, and logged 11.1 innings with 17 strikeouts. In his season debut against Western Kentucky, Coach JJ earned his first taste of collegiate action, later striking out four batters in 2.2 innings versus Akron. His time at Dayton provided the foundation for his transition to Old Dominion University, where he continues to refine his skills and compete at the highest level.

High School Career – Chaminade High School (Mineola, NY)

A product of the powerhouse Chaminade Flyers program, Coach JJ was a key contributor to the team's 2022 New York State Championship run. His dominance on the mound and leadership earned him numerous accolades, including:

First Team All- Area
Newsday All- Long Island
All- League Selection (2021 & 2022)

Coach JJ's consistent excellence and ability to perform under pressure made him one of Long Island's most respected pitchers.

Connection to Legacy 9

Coach JJ's journey to Legacy 9 is deeply personal. From ages 12 to 16, he played for Legacy 9 founder, Coach Joey Tracy, forming a strong player-coach bond built on trust, accountability, and shared goals. That relationship not only helped Coach JJ excel on the field but also instilled in him the values of loyalty, family, and work ethic that are the heart of Legacy 9 Baseball.

Coaching Role at Legacy 9

As Director of Pitching Development, Coach JJ focuses on advancing pitchers through every state of their growth- from mechanics and pitch design to in-game strategy and mental toughness. His Division I playing career gives him unique insight into the demands of high-level competition, and his coaching style emphasizes preparing athletes for success at the next level.
