Meet our Founder: JOEY TRACY
Player. Coach. Mentor. Leader.

Coach Joey is the founder and driving force behind Legacy 9 Baseball-- an organization built on heart, hustle, and the belief that the game has the power to shape lives far beyond the diamond.
​
A standout athlete from the start, Coach Joey was a four-year varsity letterman at St. Mary's High School (2008-2011) and a 2010 gold medalist with the Empire State Team representing Long Island. He continued his career at the University at Albany, where he played Division I baseball for five seasons. In 2012, he was named to the America East All- Rookie Team, and by his senior year in 2016, he led as team captain- a role that reflected his leadership both on and off the field.
As a coach, Coach Joey brings that same level of commitment and fire to every practice, game, and player. In 2024, the 14u team he led was named Team of the Year by Axcess Baseball, a testament to both his leadership and the culture he's built.

Legacy 9 is more than a program- it's a family. And at the center of that family is a coach who knows what it takes to lead, inspire, and leave a legacy that lasts.

As a freshman started 42 games, mostly at third base, with appearances in 44.Finished the season with 49 hits in 148 at-bats for a .291 batting average Had an on-base percentage of .391 and a slugging percentage of .372 . Recorded 19 RBIs, five doubles, two triples and 12 multi-hit game.

As a sophomore appeared in 37 games with 35 starts (31-3B, 4-2B). Recorded 25 hits, 20 runs, five doubles, and 10 RBI. Batted .317 in America East Conference games.
Logged the longest hit-streak on the team, hitting in 15 consecutive games. Ended the season with a 19-game reached base streak and drew a team-high 21 walks. Had a season-high four hits (4-for-4) with a double, six RBI and three runs scored in win over Hartford. Went 2-for-2 with an RBI and run scored in UAlbany's 5-0 win over UMBC. Went 2-for-3, scoring a run, in 5-4 win over Binghamton.
